STOP ME IF ANY OF THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR ...
You know your teen is struggling with mathematics, but you have no idea where to start, or how to make a plan of action …
You’ve spent countless hours trying to help them with math homework, but it just ends up in tears of frustration, every time…
Perhaps they were visiting a tutor, but under current circumstances that is now not possible.
You’re worried by how much confidence math has stripped away from your child, and you just don’t know how to put a stop to it!
You’ve tried everything you know to help, but you are now simply out of ideas.
The current state of Virtual Schooling your child is receiving is not keeping them on track for their Junior Certificate exam.
You know virtual schooling works, but can’t find one specifically tailored to the Junior Certificate.
If it does, then you already know how difficult it can be to find good clear guidance on what will work during exam preparation time.
ALL THIS IS WHAT INSPIRED
THE JUNIOR CERTIFICATE REVISION CLUB
I was tired of hearing stories from parents, many of whom were willing to put the time and effort into helping their teenagers with math, just like you, but simply no longer remember the material. Feeling defeated and drained by their efforts to source good tutors, or available times with tutors, so they could see their children succeed in mathematics.
Running around like crazy trying to get your teenager from activities to tutors.
Worried as the task of finding an avilable tutor seemed impossible.
Watching your child get suckered into the belief that there must be ‘math people’ and your family just isn’t them!
Knowing your teenager is still learning new material when struggling with revision of previous material.
Worried about school closures and the lack of effective Virtual Teaching available from school.
Thankfully you can soon be done with all of this ...
Introducing the Junior Certificate Revision Club
with Math Momentum Academy
The Junior Certificate Revision Club is a learning community for teenagers who:
- want to overcome difficulties in mathematics, entirely online.
- Give themselves the best exam preparation possible.
It’s math help directed by students, organized for students & led by a tutor!
The Club is a learning community for teenagers full of detailed, practical mathematics tutorials & study planning training and resources covering everything they need to know to create effective math help for your Junior Certificate student. Delivered at a pace that is not overwhelming.
The Junior Certificate Revision Club offers this …..
AS WELL AS the support students need to ensure success.
THE CLUB WILL HELP STUDENTS S.T.A.M.P. THEIR EXAM!
Any large endeavour requires a STRATEGY. Does your teenager have one? Do they have clear notes to work from? Do they have all required formula and definitions in one place? Do they ‘practice’ by doing entire papers, or specific topics from each paper? Students can have many different strategies, but the ones who will not fair well, are the ones with NO preparation strategy.
Mathematics isn’t their only subject. Your teen has a heavy work load preparing for their exams. How are they managing their time? How much time are they giving themselves to actually keep themselves grounded and calm. Do they have a tendency to let things ‘build up’ until they feel crippled by overwhelm. Time management is key to success, now and in the future.
Is your teen accepting accountability for their choices. How are they holding themselves accountable. Do they get what they say they will get done by their target time. Are they expecting too much (or too little) of themselves.
School aged students have teachers as their mentors, but it’s not enough. Who does your teen have to make quick contact with – a trouble shooter, a person to point them in the right direction? If they don’t have someone like this – they need to find one.
Peer support is crucial in all aspects of a teenagers life. Is your teen actively involved in a study group? Do they have friends they can contact (like a mentor) to ‘brain storm’ with?
WAYS TO LEARN INSIDE THE ACADEMY
Not everything has to be done on a computer! Cheat Sheets, practice questions, notes, revision … all of this and more is offered as printable material.
Short and to the point video tutorial on fundamental concepts and procedures. This is not teaching material, it’s re-teaching. Your teen knows the material, now it’s time to ‘polish’ their knowledge.
Twice per week we meet as a group via video conferencing. This is where students bring their questions and get them answered. This is not a planned teaching class – this is led by student participation.

NOT SURE IF THE JUNIOR CERT REVISION CLUB IS RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?
The Junior Cert Revision Club is NOT right for everyone, and honestly, I’d much rather help you figure out if it’s not right for your student BEFORE you sign them up, rather than waste your (and their) time. So let’s figure it out …
- Teens who are truly invested in helping themselves with mathematics.
- Proactive teens, who want to stop problems BEFORE they occur and foster a love and appreciation of structured study and self discipline.
- If you believe without a shadow of a doubt that your teenager can master math issues with the right approach.
- If you want to get out of the ‘trap’ of relying on expensive tutors.
- For teens who are on the verge of ‘throwing the towel in’ on math but who refuse to give up.
- You don’t want your teen sitting in front of a computer to do their math all the time.
- Action takers who aren’t just going to watch a few videos and expect everything to be ‘fixed’. You appreciate that mathematics is a journey. I provide the training and resources, your student still has to do the work.
- If you’re looking for a ‘magic math pill’ that will ‘fix’ everything in a jiffy! You wont find it here. There’s no such thing.
- You want some ‘system’ your teen can complete, with little personal input. Learning doesn’t work this way for any of us. Guidance, mentorship and support will always be required, along with your students self-disciplin.
- Your teen is stuck with the belief that they are ‘just not a math person’ and will resist having this thought process changed!
- You’re teen feels they are very far behind and you need FAST intervention. If this is the case, you need a tutor.
- Parents expecting guaranteed results. I know what I teach works, but I can’t guarantee specific results by simply following my advice. Nobody can make that promise
It might seem strange that I’m trying to talk you OUT of becoming a member – but if the Junior Cert Club isn’t right for you or your child, then it doesn’t do any of us any good if they join. They’re not going to stay long if I’m not helping them, right? This all starts by making sure Math Momentum Academy’s Junior Cert Club is right for them BEFORE you sign them up.

This membership is for anyone who wishes to create an enjoyable, engaging and effective journey to math success. If this is you, doing it for you, that’s great. If it’s you, facilitating someone else, that’s great too! Having said that, I don’t recommend the math reteaching courses for any student, unless they have already been taught the material, and are at the revision stage. So I would strongly suggest no students under the age of 13.
The lessons on this site are designed for older students or adults to digest. It is all about learning, then implementing in our daily lives. Yes, math skills need to be practiced and I am personally a strong believer in pencil and paper. The absolute best scenario, is that your child spends NO time in the Academy. You do, and implement what you learn with your child in a way that is fun for them!
It is never, ever too late to help a person with mathematics (or any other subject for that matter). The question is, how quickly do you need the help to arrive. If you are just weeks away from an exam, where the results impact a lot, I would strongly suggest a tutor.
It’s time to take action and simply put. Math problems compound. The longer you wait to remedy issues, the further back you will have to go when attempting to identify the ‘true’ issue. If you truly want your child to experience an engaging mathematics journey to success, you want to have a resource that will answer all your questions – especially the ones you don’t know you have yet. If information (or the lack of) was the problem, no of us would have struggles with mathematics – the information is everywhere. What you need along with this information, is support, community and most of all accountability.
If you don’t take a first step, you will be in the same place tomorrow, as you are today.
Obviously I would love to see my members stick around, and feel right at home here at the Academy. But everything in life is either needed or not! If you decide to cancel, I will be sad to see you go, but you can do so at any time!
