Why Some People Can Struggle with Math

There are many reasons why people struggle with mathematics, and academic abilities is rarely one of them!

This course takes a look at the different factors that affect learning, and how they apply to the pursuit of mathematics learning.  You will explore the characteristics of math learning difficulties, styles of learning people gravitate towards and styles of math instruction. You will learn how each can affect an individuals path to learning and understanding mathematics.

You will also learn the different methods of presenting information. If you are an adult student, this will show you how you best receive information.  If you are a parent helping a school aged math student, this will help you understand how they will best receive the information.  You will explore teaching strategies and learn a little about some life style habits that also impact an individuals ability to learn.

On completion of this course, you will have the information you need to identify problem areas in your (or your students) math education, the best way for you (or them) to learn, and what to do after to keep your new found math momentum moving in the right direction.

Your Mathematics Skills Road M.A.P.S.

Your Road Map

This is a very large e-book that contains all the required math foundation skills up to 6th Grade [approximately age 13].

Each of these skills tend to be introduced and learned during specific grade levels, however please be very aware that this really is simply a list of skills that must be mastered.

It really doesn't matter when a student 'should' have learned these, what matters is that they do. So don't put much focus on the recommended grade level, and instead focus on ensuring each skill is mastered.
